Japa Malas

Japa Malas are a string of beads made from different materials and strung together to form a necklace. They are also known as yoga beads and mala beads. Worn and used for thousands of years by spiritual seekers, yogis and others on their spiritual journey. Japa Malas have 108 beads or can come with 54 each to serve its own purpose.

Literal meaning: In Sanskrit, Japa is for repeating in a low voice and Mala is for necklace. Japa Mala Beads are mainly used for reciting mantras. The Japa Malas help you when reciting or chanting your mantra to keep your mind focused on the mantra that you are meditating with. Using a Japa Mala during meditation has been around since the 8th century. Many cultures and religions use Japa Mala Beads as prayer beads or rosaries.
