Nassau County declares October 11th, 2009 as Baba Ramdev Day

Swami Ramdevji visited New York for a short period on October 11, invited by Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, and Heritage India group, a charitable organization. A grand reception was organized at the Nassau County executive and legislative building. Animesh Goenka, president of Heritage India Group remarked, “Swami Ramdevji’s follow-up visit to New York is intended to make Nassau County as a model to promote yoga and meditation efforts across the U.S. for better and affordable health and disease prevention via simple yogic exercises and Pranayama.”

Swami Ramdevji emphasized the importance of the seven different Pranayama techniques, which can help individuals lose weight and protect them from diseases like hypertension and diabetes. Tom Suozzi applauded Swami Ramdevji’s efforts in helping to improve the lifestyle of millions of people around the world. Other coordinators of this program were Georgy Bhaala of Tathaastu: So Be It magazine and Rajiv Garg, the U.S. distributor for Ayurvedic herbs and food supplements of Patanjali Yogpeeth, India. Sudhir Vaishnav chaired the Media Relations Committee. This function was attended by well-known people like C. Sarkar of Air India and John Cayman, supervisor of the Town of North Hempstead.
