Good Living with Feng Shui

Pandit Gopal Sharma

Feng Shui is all about creating a space that vibrates harmony, peace and happiness by ensuring an uninterrupted and smooth flow of energy. When we are surrounded by various Feng Shui symbols that generate positive energy, the mind, body and soul are at peace; the aura is in balance, which in turn motivates an individual to bring out his or her best.

On the other hand, if the surroundings are not harmonious, it can have a negative effect on our relationships, health and wealth. Feng Shui acts as a catalyst to reduce stress and increase joy within a space, but it is also influenced by the energy, thoughts, actions and deeds of the occupants. merely placing objects and symbols without practicing positive affirmations and generosity may not fulfill our desires. it is important that one has positive thoughts, good vibes and a feeling of abundance while using/following the Feng Shui enhancers for optimum benefits.

Jumping frog

The Chinese believe that if a family of frogs lives towards the back of your house, then you are safe from danger and bad luck. A jumping frog with coins of money in its mouth is a symbol of increasing prosperity. But the place where you keep it is also very important. The direction of the coins should always be towards the interior of the house or the office. If the direction of the coins is kept towards the exterior of the house or the office, it can lead to the outflow of money from the house/workplace. It can also be kept under a sofa or in a cupboard, but it should not be kept at a place of worship, in the bedroom, or the kitchen.

Rotating crystal globe

A crystal globe is an ideal enhancer to activate education, career, and travel opportunities. if you are a student, this will bring you luck in your studies and exams. if you are a writer, this will bring you fame and recognition. and if you are a businessman, this globe will help you grow your business into a global one. Students and authors, place a globe in the northeast direction and twirl once a day!

Photo of high mountains

According to the principles of Feng Shui, if the seating arrangement of a person of importance is in such a way that he or she has a window, mirror, or a door towards his or her back, it needs an immediate change or cure. This can lead to treachery against that person. In such a situation, one should put up a picture of high mountains (without water) in the Southwest zone of the room as this brings stability into the person’s life. The peak of the mountain should not be pointed. instead, the mountain should be sloping – like the back of the tortoise.

It also strengthens relationships. having a picture of high mountains or a statue of stone behind one’s back fills one with self-confidence and also brings support from others.

Lucky coins

Good_Living_3

Tie up prosperity-increasing lucky coins with a red thread and hang them on the door of your store or office. These coins should be put above the main door only. Every year, wash these coins with sacred water and hang them on the door again. These lucky coins will astonishingly increase prosperity. Tie up three lucky coins with a red thread and stick them in your ledger-books and other books dealing with sales. They lead to an increase in the business. You can also keep these lucky coins in your safe or purse. Always keeps the side of the coin with four words facing up. The side with two words should face down. If you keep a symbol of the tortoise sitting on lucky coins in the northern direction, it will bring prosperity into the house or business place.

Lucky ship

For progress in business, fill golden-colored metal items in a wooden ship and keep it in your office or store. The ship should be placed in such a way that it appears that it’s bringing gold into the office or store. Keep in mind that the meaning of this symbol is that a ship filled with gold is entering your office or store.

Bamboo tree

In Feng Shui, the bamboo plant is considered to be a very powerful symbol for growth and longevity. Bamboo plants represent high prosperity in the most adverse circumstances and they symbolize the capacity and capability to face difficult times.

The roots of the bamboo plant keep growing deeper. By putting it in the North or East direction, you can have prosperity and family growth respectively. Placing the bamboo plant in the East or Southeast direction of the house or the office helps to do away with deficiency arising out of the absence of numbers in the Lo Shu grid.

Clocks

Areas to display clocks are the living room and the home office. Having a small clock in your child’s room is good Feng Shui as it helps them understand the passing of time; and having a small alarm clock in your bedroom is almost a necessity!

Do not display clocks so that you see them as the first thing when you enter the house or the last thing as you leave. Do not display metal clocks in the East, which is the health and family area of the house governed by the wood element. an octagonal wooden wall clock is best in this zone. do not display big clocks in the bedroom.

Dressing table

The best feature at a dressing table is the presence of a bright light. this brings a great deal of auspicious energy to your daily grooming ritual. If your dressing table is located in the north, East or northeast zone of your bedroom, this lighting feature will be even more auspicious.

Good_Living_4

This means that grooming yourself in the mirror, you are looking into a direction that represents auspicious things: North for prosperity, East for growth, and northeast for wisdom and all-round development.
always ensure that your dressing table does not have its mirror directly facing your bed. this creates bad energy for you when you are sleeping, adversely affecting health and relationships.

Flutes

Feng Shui practitioners usually suggest hanging flutes at an angle to bring energy or chi into the room. If hung over doorways it will give visitors a sense of peace and safety as they pass under them. Quality craftsmanship guarantees years of enjoyment and with every gentle breeze comes a bright melody and a happy thought. Hang at two extreme corners and they are especially useful in reducing the negative effect of beams in the house/workplace. Bamboo flutes create strength and support and give a burst of energy.

Tortoise

A tortoise is used as protection and energy-enhancing cure when placed in the back of the house. this also means that you can place a small tortoise towards your back in the office, or in the back of your garden.

Good_Living_5

The tortoise, particularly a black tortoise made from metal, placed in the north zone is an energy enhancer for your career – it will help attract a smooth, grounding energy for your business projects and increase your prospects for promotions in your career.

Candles

Light up red or yellow candles in the Southwestern corner of every room in your house on a full moon night. These awaken positive energy. Don’t light white or black candles as these bring the opposite effect, destroying the positive energy.

Good_Living_6

This should be conducted on every full moon night. When some special guests or friends come to your house, you must try this experiment and see the favorable flow of chi.

Lotus for true love

In Chinese culture, the lotus flower is considered extremely sacred. In the Indian religious texts as well, the lotus has been given the place of a sacred flower. Saraswati, the Goddess of learning, is shown to sit on a lotus flower. In Feng Shui, the lotus is considered to be a symbol of true love, maintaining the flow of the powerful positive chi.

Chandeliers

Chandeliers can be fixed in every room of the house. A chandelier or Jhoomar fixed in the main entrance of the house attracts lucky chi energy and a chandelier in the dining room brings an abundance of good food.

The best place for a chandelier is the Southwestern part of the house. Chandeliers fixed in this part of the house match the earth element of this zone and tend to bring good energy to all members of the family.
